PURPOSE:To enable to easily perform leakage test of a large number of heat transfer pipes by a structure wherein the pipe leakage of the heat transfer pipes of a multitubular U-type heat exchanger is detected by clogging one end of each of the U-type heat transfer pipes and then supplying pressurized fluid around the heat transfer pipes. CONSTITUTION:In case that some damage is suspected in the heat transfer pipes 5 of the heat exchanger for some cause or other, it is necessary to acertain from outside that in which heat transfer pipe the damage has developed in a multitubular heat exchanger. In order to ascertain the damage, the covers of manholes 9 and 10 are disassembled and a connecting tube 15 is temporarily lain between the manholes 9 and 10 and then a partition plate 6 to partition into an inlet chamber 7 and an outlet chamber 8 is disassembled and finally the heat transfer pipes 5 are plugged with stopping plugs 14 at the side communicating to the outlet chamber 8. By pressurizing the interior of a cylindrical shell 1 around said heat transfer pipes 5 by the gas led from a pressurized fluid supplying device 22, the presence of the damage in some heat pipe 5 can be ascertained by the sending-out of the gas into the inlet chamber 7. |
