PURPOSE:To greatly simplify the manufacture of a probe for an ultrasonic inspection apparatus, by cutting a flat sheet of a piezoelectric material at a predetermined pitch so as to form a vibrator array constituted by minute vibrators with a predetermined gap between the adjacent vibrators, and radially arranging the vibrator array along a cylindrical surface of a base while maintaining the arrangement of the vibrators. CONSTITUTION:A sheet 16 of a piezoelectric material having a thickness of 0.4mm., for example, is bonded to a sound-absorbing material 12 by means of an epoxy resin adhesive 13 as illustrated. While being secured to the sound-absorbing material, the sheet 16 is cut at a predetermined pitch so as to form a vibrator array 11 constituted by minute vibrators in a row with a predetermined gap between the adjacent vibrators. The sound-absorbing material is brought into contact with a cylindrical surface 15 of a base 14 on the side opposite to the surface of the sound-absorbing material which is bonded to the vibrator array 11, and is secured by means of an adhesive. Thus, the sound-absorbing material is bent along the cylindrical surface, so that it is possible to obtain a vibrator array which is arranged in the radial direction with respect to the center of the cylindrical surface as well as forms a cylindrical surface. |
