<p>Blockages in bottom aerators in the treatment of water and sewage are eliminated or prevented under operating conditions by introducing formic acid into the gas fed into the aerators without taking the aerators out of operation. The acid converts the blocking material at least partly into a form which is soluble in the water or sewage to be treated.</p> |
