The electromagnetic clutch has an energizing device including a cylindrical yoke assembly(14) & a winding(11). The yoke member gas an outer cylindrical wall(151), an inner cylindrical wall is tapered in going from the bottom wall toward the upper end, and the inner cylindrical wall gas a constant thickness in the lower portion of a predetermined height contiguous with the constant thickness in the lower portion and extending toward the upper end. The inner cylindrical wall has an annular groove formed on its inner circumferential surface in its constant thickness in the lower portion.
