<p>A locking system to lock a dump gate to a dump body and characterized by providing a spring bias on the dump gate in closed position to avoid shaking of the gate and the resultant disadvantages, such as vibrations, wear and noise. This dump body and gate locking system includes a pair of hooks pivotally and slidably positioned below the dump gate to firmly engage the lower portion thereof and hold the gate in closed position with springs, then 80 biasing the dump gate. An air pressure actuator is provided to release the hooks which then pivot and slide clear of the path of the dump gate. The dump body forms guides for the hooks and a bumper sufficiently projecting rearwardly to protect the locking mechanism and, in particular, the hooks against damage thereto, should there be, for instance, a need to push a dump truck so equipped, such as with a bulldozer.</p> |
