<p>An electrostatic spraying system comprises a spray reservoir, with spraylines leading to a sprayhead at which spray liquid is electrostatically charged and atomised. The system incorporates an ion pump comprising an insulating conduit leading to the sprayhead, a sharp or pointed ion injection electrode mounted in the conduit, an ion discharge electrode in the conduit downstream of the ion injection electrode, and means for applying a potential difference of the order of kilovolts between the two.</p> |
