<p>A thin film magnetic head and method of making such a head are disclosed. The head includes a substrate (4), a first layer of magnetic material (6) having a first offset portion (34), a second layer of magnetic material (8) having a second offset portion (40) overlying the first offset portion (34), and a layer of conductor material (10) disposed within the cavity defined by the two offset portions (34, 40). In one embodiment the offset portion (34) of the first magnetic layer (6) is disposed within a recess (16) in the substrate.</p> |
