PURPOSE:To enhance the selectively of acetic acid to total CO, in a Rh-Mn- containing catalyst used in reaction for preparing an oxygen-containing org. compound from CO and H, by using permanganic acid or its salt thereof as an Mn compound. CONSTITUTION:In a Rh-Mn-containing catalyst which contains an Mn compound and activated Rh obtained by the heat treatment of an Rh compound supported by a carrier and used in reaction for preparing an oxygen-containing org. compound from CO and H, as the Mn compound, permanganic acid or an alkali salt thereof is used. In this case, the support amount of Rh and Mn to the carrier is adjusted to about 0.01-20wt% on the basis of wt. as an atom to each carrier and the ratio of Mn and Rh is 0.01-2 in an atomic ratio of Mn/Rh. This catalyst can be used in reaction obtaining the oxygen-containing org. compound mainly containing two carbon atoms, such as acetic acid, acetaldehyde or ethanol from CO and H and especially suitable in obtaining high selectivity of acetic acid. |
