PURPOSE:To recognize easily about the position of character string corresponds to which position on the form layout, by providing a cursor display function that can be controlled for its shift from outside to both character and layout display parts respectively. CONSTITUTION:With a word processor 100 containing a character display part 101 of liquid crystal and a layout display part 102 independently of each other, the part 101 consists of 12 characters X1 line, for example. While the part 102 displays the state of an array of characters on the entire surface of paper P with compression and in symbols ( , , O and ?) corresponding to HIRAGANA (Japanese syllabary), KATAKANA (square form of Japanese syllabary), Chinese characters and alphabetic letters respectively. These parts 101 and 102 have cursors CML and CMR which can be controlled for shift by a cursor shift key 106 respectively. When the cursor CMR is moving, the character string of the part 101 is replaced in response to the shifting range of the cursor. The correspondence is always kept between the position of the CMR and the character string of the part 101. As a result, it is easy to recognize the position to which the character string corresponds on the layout paper P. |
