The cable strain simulating machine comprises a carriage (4) mounted on a rail and guided by horizontal and vertically mounted pulley wheels. The carriage supports three pulleys (25,26) the central one (26) of which is inclined w.r.t. the horizontal plane. - A section of cable (16) firmly attached at each end is threaded between the pulleys so that a strain force is applied to the cable as the carriage is moved, movement is transmitted by an endless chain from a programmer controlled hydraulic motor. The machine may be used electric cables and/or fluid conduits and requires limited cable lengths. (3)
