SEPARATION OF INCLUSION IN CONTINUOUS CASTING

PURPOSE:To maintain sepn. efficiency of the inclusions in molten steel at a specified level by adsorbing and separating the inclusions with a refractory filter which is provided between a tundish and a tundish nozzle and has plural through-holes and exchanging the filter properly. CONSTITUTION:A refractory filter 10 of high alumina base or the like is interposed between the bottom 2' of a tundish and a tundish nozzle 3. The inclusions in the molten steel fed from the bottom 2' to the nozzle 3 are adsorbed and separated by the plural through-holes 11 provided in the longitudinal direction of the filter 10. If the holes 11 of the filter 10 are clogged gradually and the adsorption efficiency of non-metallic inclusions is decreased on passing of the molten metal, the filter is exchanged at a suitable point of time. In other words, the filter 10 is formed into a continuous body assembled with individually divided many filters and the continuous body is slided so as to exchange the filter with the fresh filter.
