PURPOSE:To increase the melting speed of a coated arc welding electrode and to improve the X-ray class thereof, by coating an ordinary coating material on a carbon steel core contg. respectively limited amts. of MnO, FeO, Al2O3 and SiO2 which are non-metallic inclusions. CONSTITUTION:A carbon steel core is produced from a steel ingot produced by limiting the contents of MnO, FeO, Al2O3 and SiO2 which are non-metallic inclusions by adjusting the addition of a deoxidizing agent such as Al and Mn and blowing oxygen in a steel making stage. An ordinary coating material is coated around the carbon steel core which contains 0.02-0.11% MnO and FeO respectively and contains Al2O3 and SiO2 limited respectively at <=0.02%. The resulted coated arc welding electrode has a high melting speed, good X-ray performance and improved job efficiency. |
