PURPOSE:To reduce a thawing time for a large-sized frozen cake by a method wherein foodstuffs are placed in a thawing container constructed by a resin mounting plate with central projected part having low microwave loss, a metallic microwave adjuster plate with a microwave infiltrating holes at a desired point and a cover, and then the foodstuffs are arranged in the heating chamber. CONSTITUTION:A frozen cake 13 is placed on a central projected part 19 of the mounting plate 15 with low loss of high frequency of the container 17 for exclusive thawing use, assembled to the electric wave adjuster plate 16 and the container 14 and then stored in the container 17. The cake is placed in the heating chamber 2 and heated by a microwave. In this case, because the wave adjuster plate 16 and the container 14 are made of metal, no infiltration of wave occurs at a place except the central openings 18, 20, so that less infiltration of wave from the side of the cake 13 is made, while melting at the corner of the cake 13 can be prevented and a substantially equal strength of infiltration of wave can be performed above and below the cake. The mounting plate 15 is of material with less loss of microwave, its mounting part 19 is of a projected form, so that a correct positioning of the cake can be performed. With this arrangement, the thawing of the large-sized frozen cake can efficiently be performed in a short period of time.
