PURPOSE:To prevent creasing in both side edges of a drawn ingot, by forming both short side gates of a casting mold of a heat insulating material and cooling more the part of molten metal in contact with both end parts of mold rolls than the part in contact with the central part. CONSTITUTION:When molten metal is charged into a casting mold formed of gates 5, 6 and twin mold rolls 1, a long-side shell 8 is formed with the rolls 1. Since both side edges 8A, 8C of the shell 8 contact with both end parts 1A, 1C consisting of the pure copper of the rolls 1, both side edges 8A, 8C are cooled more positively than the central part 8B and are formed heavily. The long-side shell 8 is brought continuously between the rolls 1 by drawing the ingot so that the thick-walled side edges 8A, 8A, 8C, 8C are positioned in proximity between the rolls 1 and 1. |
