A backlight device 12 comprising at least: a plurality of LEDs 17 arranged annularly and in a curved shape; a light-guide plate 14 surrounded by the plurality of LEDs 17, having an external shape that follows the arrangement of the plurality of LEDs 17, and guiding the light from the plurality of LEDs 17; and an LED substrate (light source substrate) 18 having the plurality of LEDs 17 mounted thereto and having formed thereupon a wiring section 18c for supplying power to the plurality of LEDs 17, said LED substrate 18 extending in a shape that follows the arrangement of the plurality of LEDs 17, forming an open-ended ring or a continuous ring, and having a non-wired area NWA in part of the circumferential direction thereof, in which the wiring section 18c is not formed. |
