In the manufacture of copolymer latex from copolymerization of aliphatic conjugate diene monomer (I) of 19.5-80 wt. %, unsaturated ethylene carboxylic acid monomer (II) of 0.5-10 wt.% with copolymerizable monoolefin monomer (III) of 10-80 wt.%, improved process includes (a) the first emulsion polymerization of (I) and (II) equivalent to 45-99 wt.% of total monomers with (II) of 1 wt.%; (b) the second emulsion polymerization of products obtained in (a) with remaining olefins of 1-55 wt.%.
