PURPOSE:To simplify a manufacturing process, and to obtain a water-resistant and washable heat exchanger element, by using a partition board which is made of fibrous base material with water resistant substance being impregnated into it or deposited on it. CONSTITUTION:A heat exchanger element is constituted by laminating a plurality of partition boards 1 at predetermined intervals (that is corrugated spacer boards 2 and partition boards 1 are laid on one another alternately). Heat is exchanged between airflows A and B passing through the partition boards 1. The partition board 1 is made of fibrous base material such as kraft paper which is easy to be worked and has moisture absorbing function, and further, moisture permeability and water-resistant property are given to it by depositing by impregnating or by coating water-resistant substance which is prepared by dissolving urethane resin into a solvent such as toluene, and by drying it thermally. Further, moisture absorption characteristics, water-vapor transmission characteristics and water-resistant characteristics are also given to the element by impregnating or coating moisture absorbent such as alumina sol into or onto the element. In case that kraft paper having moisture absorption characteristics is used, water-resistant characteristics can be given to the element while permeability is removed from it, by waxing it and by thermally drying it until it comes to half-hardened state. |
