The movement controller is configured to move a focal point of the objective lens in a thickness direction of the portion of the imaging target. The multiple exposure processing unit is configured to perform multiple exposure of the imaging device at a plurality of positions such that, for each of ranges sectioned by positions in a direction in which the focal point is movable, an average image that covers each of the ranges is obtained.

An image acquisition apparatus, comprising: an optical system including an obiective lens configured to magnify a portion of an imaging target; an image sensor configured to perform all-pixel simultaneous exposure and image the portion magnified by the optical system; a processor configured to move a focal point of the objective lens in a thickness direction of the portion of an imaging target; the processor configured to perform a first exposure of the image sensor at a first focal position of the objective lens and a second exposure of the image sensor at a second focal position such that an average image for the first focal position and the second focal position is obtained; and the processor configured to add, in the image sensor, electric charges accumulated in the image sensor corresponding to the first exposure of the image sensor at the first focal position and the second exposure of the image sensor at the second focal position to obtain the average image, wherein each range of a plurality of focal positions has a length equal to or smaller than a length obtained by multiplying a focal depth of the objective lens by a number of exposures performed for the image sensor, wherein intervals between the focal positions are set to be the same as the focal depth of the optical system including the obiective lens.
