The method involves estimating slope (11) of a road (10) for a braking request by a speed regulation or limitation system by using estimation function receiving information on speed of a vehicle (12) and torque delivered by a power unit (14). Final set point torque (30) for supporting acceleration reduction is calculated when forward movement of vehicle is high. Another final set point torque for supporting acceleration increase is calculated when downward movement of the vehicle is high. The estimation is transmitted to calculation function of minimum authorized vehicle acceleration (16). An independent claim is also included for a hybrid car.
