In the case of a safety ski binding, the release spring is accommodated in a housing provided with an oblique guide. Interacting with this oblique guide is a sole plate which can be swivelled to a limited extent about a vertical axis and about a transverse axis and can be displaced to a limited extent in the longitudinal direction of the ski, the ski boot being held in the travelling position at least by a pair of holding jaws. Swivel-mounted on the bearing (2) fixed to the ski is a base plate (10), in which a slide plate (16) together with the sole plate (43), which latter is connected to an intermediate plate (26), and a control plate (18), coupled to the slide plate (16) by means of a toggle lever system (19, 20), are guided displaceably in the longitudinal direction of the ski. A displacing of the slide plate (16) with respect to the bearing (2) fixed to the ski has the effect of displacing the control plate (18) in the direction of the housing (3) fixed to the ski. The sole plate (43) is mounted in such a way that it can be swivelled out together with the intermediate plate (26) in relation to the slide plate (16). The control plate (18) is coupled to a release plate (14), which is acted upon by the release spring (8) and releases the holding jaws (34) after a displacing distance in the longitudinal direction of the intermediate plate (26). The sole plate (43) consequently has a definable range of elasticity, a single release spring (8) being adequate for all possible directions in which the skier may fall. <IMAGE> |
