PURPOSE:To obtain a color video display having high efficiency, by using a white/black cathode-ray tube having high beam efficiency and then adding an optical fiber, etc. to the cathode-ray tube. CONSTITUTION:A television video signal is supplied to a cathode or a grid electrode within an electronic gun 1a of a white/black cathode-ray tube 1. Then an electron beam whose density is modulated by said video signal scans over a fluorescent matter 1b. Thus a white/black image is formed on the surface of the matter 1b. Under such conditions, the output light of the matter 1b is kept in white and black. However, the output light is converted into a color image by providing sequentially a light volume controller 2 such as a liquid crystal display, etc., an optical fiber 3 and a front panel 4 at the front of the cathode-ray tube 1. |
