PURPOSE:To provide high wear resistance and shelf stability and to obtain high reproduction output, by adding a specified compound to a magnetic recording layer. CONSTITUTION:To a magnetic recording layer on the surface of a support is added a compound represented by formula I , wherein R is optionally substituted alkyl, alkenyl or aryl, Z is -O-, -NH- or -S-, M is H, an alkali metallic atom or an ammonium salt, and n is an integer or 1-5.
