<p>The bearing plate uses a fluid cushion to take up irregularities between supported work and a press-table e.g. for use in an engineering workshop, and comprising bellows (3) mounted on a plate (1). A fluid such as compressed air is introduced through the plate and exhausts through apertures (16,18) in the bellows. The bellows are fixed by a bolted e.g. peripheral counter plate (14) with an opening (13) defined by a rib (12), using a groove (11) in a collar (9) to house the rib. The outer end face of the bellows is closed by a supple wall (15) incorporating the apertures, and the supple wall may be in one moulded piece with the bellows. The plate may inc. air feeds (4,7) together with a groove (8) locating the collar, the unit being fitted with a hard-wearing skid (17).</p> |
