PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique capable of suppressing reduction in the printing work efficiency due to a cleaning process in a printer for printing an image on a long belt-like recording medium.SOLUTION: A printer comprises a movement mechanism 34 which moves a head unit 30 to a printing position P1 and cleaning positions P2 and P3. At the cleaning positions P2 and P3, an end head 52 of a recording head is placed on the upper side of a conveyance path 220. An interval between the head unit 30 and the conveyance path 220 at the cleaning positions P2 and P3 is wider in comparison to a printing position P1. Therefore, a thick wall part 90 of a recording medium 9 can be conveyed during a cleaning process. In other words, the cleaning process and exchange of the recording medium 9 can be simultaneously performed. Consequently, the printing work efficiency can be improved since the downtime of the printing process can be shortened.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
