PURPOSE:To obtain an electrophotographic receptor having high resistance to electric field and voltage, small dark current, high photoconductivity, no danger of polluting the environment, and superior mechanical strength, by using amorphous silicon carbide contg. hydrogen and having a proportion of each component in a specified range. CONSTITUTION:An electrophotographic receptor is obtained by using amorphous silicon carbide contg. hydrogen represented by the formula (x+y+l+m=1, y/x= about 0.03-0.4, l/x= about 0.2-0.4, m/y= about 0.5-2.0). This material has small electric conductivity, superior photoconductivity, high resistance to electric field and voltage, small dark current, no danger of environmental pollution, and high mechanical strength. For example, this photoreceptor is formed by introducing silane and methane into a vacuum vessel, and making said compd. by deposit onto a substrate DC glow discharge or high frequency glow discharge. |
