Displacement casting machine - with tie rod acting as common guide for support plates, carrier plates and mould

Displacement casting machine, for the prodn. of large thin-walled castings with ribs in the shape of space shells, has at least one tie rod which holds the support plates with the mould carrier plates together. This tie rod acts as a common centring element for these support plates, for the sole plate of the casting mould, for a centring pin to which the core is fixed, and for the mould carrier plates. The mould carrier plates are moved along the tie rod by their own drive. Sliding groove-and-tongue joints between support plates and carrier plates ensure a relative motion in the horizontal plane. This creates a common coordinating guide element which determines the precision of the alignment of movable parts of the mould relative to the core.
