The lagging for the roadway support in underground mining and tunnelling in combination with support arches or rings to be placed at a distance from one another is composed of several sectional lengths having longitudinal and transverse wires, connecting elements being provided at the ends of the longitudinal wires for connecting the sectional lengths to one another and/or to the support arches. In order to reduce sectioning operations to be carried out and in order to place the lagging in a mechanised manner, the sectional lengths are each designed as a lagging segment (9, 10) which correspond in their segment length to the length of the support segments (4, 5, 6) and in their segment width to the respective overall distance between the support segments. <IMAGE>
