A feeler cane for the mobile orientation of visually impaired individuals is designed as a handle on its upper end facing the visually impaired individual and as a feeler tube ending in a tip on its opposite end. The tip of the feeler tube is carried in front of the visually impaired individual directly above ground to be touched by it, essentially horizontally and transversely to a path to be scanned and is tapped onto the ground on either side of the path. The feeler cane has an ergonomic design for organic extension of extremities, formed by an arm and a hand, of the visually impaired individual. The handle has a design facilitating its guidance in a position displaced from its centre of gravity in the direction towards the visually impaired individual, in which position it has a weak torque of the tip in the direction towards the ground to be scanned.
