In heat exchanger systems in which each cooling tube is assigned a cleaning member, this cleaning member is moved to and fro by reversing the flow direction of the cooling water in the cooling tubes. According to the invention, this reversal and cleaning of the cooling water is served by arranging horizontally in a cylindrical housing (2) upstream of the heat exchanger having two pairs of cooling water inlet and outlet sockets (16, 17; 18, 19) which in each case are located opposite one another and open out above one another, and at a level between the two pairs of sockets a rotatable disc (3), which has two sieve passages (5, 6) with a quarter-circle shape, which are located opposite one another and on which disc there is mounted above and below in each case a vertically extending plate (10, 11) said plates being arranged offset by 90 DEG relative to one another.
