A harvesting machine, especially for sesame, is equipped with a cutting unit and with a collector device located behind this in the working direction. The cutting unit has guide orifices which are open in the working direction and correspond to the spacing of the plant rows and at the closed ends of which are arranged cutters moved towards the end by a cutter shaft and, in front of them, drivers which impart an impetus in the direction of the collector device to the plants entering the guide orifice. A separate hydraulic motor is provided for the cutters and drivers of each guide orifice.
