In the double-walled container construction disclosed in German Patent 3121945.4 and having a parting line between wall and sole plate at the outer protective container of reinforced concrete, design measures are proposed for absorbing the exceptional load cases of explosion pressure, earthquake and thermal shock. Tensile forces resulting from horizontal explosion pressure shock in the joint plane are absorbed by anchors (10) which do not hinder displacements in the joint plane. Measures are specified for frictionally directing the horizontal forces out of the container wall (6) via the joint (16/17) into the sole plate (7), and a convenient design of the partitioning (20) of the insulating space (4) between inner and outer tank for absorbing different movements of the two containers during earthquakes or thermal shock is described. <IMAGE>
