Magnetically responsive spheres or particles having a diameter of 1000 nm and being built up of a carbohydrate polymer, in which a magnetic material has been included. Said magnetically responsive spheres or particles can be used together with bioadsorptive material in for example cell separation, affinity purifying or immunochemical assay.
