PURPOSE:To provide a friction material for a disc brake for parking with a high coefficient of friction of more than 0.4 by compounding organic components such as an organic fiber, rubber dust and so on. CONSTITUTION:Components composed of an organic fiber, rubber dust, resin, iron powder, graphite, minerals, asbestos and so on are mixed well, and molded by heating and pressing in a general method to form a friction material. An organic fiber easy to soften such as a staple fiber and an organic component such as rubber dust are compounded as a principal component in large quantities, which can decrease a temperature rise and lower coefficient of friction so as to prevent generation of heat. Thus, the friction material is worn in strate to product a clearance, and organic matter generates white smoke due to generation of heat to function as an indicator, so that even if the friction material is worn, a new friction surface is provided to keep a high coefficient of friction. Furthermore, since the material is soft, it can be easily adhered closely to a disc rotor surface. |
