The invention relates to a support frame for an instrument housing, processing apparatuses or the like, which is arranged in a large chemical processing cell for the reprocessing of spent nuclear fuels. In order to enable simplified maintenance and the exchangeability of complete processing units, modules or apparatuses of the support frame by means of remote-handling machines, parallel cross-braces are mounted spaced apart in a pattern on a perpendicular support column. Support forks equipped with horizontal bearing surfaces for accommodating the instrument housings or processing apparatuses at any point can be suspended from the cross-braces. Simplified planning and equipping of an entire support structure of a large cell is possible owing to the pattern arrangement of the cross-braces. The components can be removed horizontally from the support frame and can be conveyed in a horizontal transport operation.
