A process and an arrangement are disclosed for sealing rotating machine parts from stationary machine parts in processing machines for rubber, plastics or materials behaving similarly, to be operated at material pressures of up to 500 bar. This aim is achieved by injecting a liquefied, thermoplastic material or the like into the gap between the moving machine parts and cooling these parts on the side facing away from the sealing side as well as heating on the sealing side. This measure ensures a flow direction of the liquified plastic, forced in by a pressure, to the processing chamber and at the same time achieves a sealing effect even with respect to high material pressures.
