A reinforcing mat having a rectangular contour, comprising orthogonally intersecting groups of parallel rods which are interconnected at the points of intersection, of which groups the group having the rods parallel to the shorter side of the rectangle are dimensioned for a load bearing reinforcement (11) and the group having the rods parallel to the longer side of the rectangle are dimensioned for a distribution reinforcement (10), the individual rods of each group being of equal diameter, characterised in that, in the edge regions of the group of rods for the load bearing reinforcement (11), the distance (11A) between the outermost rod (111, 115) and the rod (112, 114) adjacent thereto is twice as great as the distance (11B) between the other rods (113) of this group (11), and that the distance (10A) between the two rods (103, 104), disposed centrally in the reinforcement mat, of the group of rods of the distribution reinforcement (10) extending transversely of the load bearing reinforcement (11) is at least twice as great as, and no more than two and half times greater than, the distances (10B) between the rods (101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106) in the remaining part of the reinforcing mat. |
