Method for optical time division multiplex transmission via an optical waveguide (opt) of a switching system, where a multiplicity of system devices (SC, EC) capable of transmission and/or reception are connected to the optical waveguide (opt), where a transmission of control signals (TS11, TS21 ... TS12, TS22 ...), which set system devices (EC), and subscriber information (IS11, IS21 ...) between these system devices (SC, EC) is provided and where, in the pulse frame (B1 + B2) defined by frame identification signals (TK), a first block (B1) of time slots (S1 ... SX) following one another in close succession is used for transmission of the control signals (TS21...TS12, TS22...), and a different, second block (B2) of time slots (I1 ... IY) following one another in close succession is used for transmission of the subscriber information (IS11, IS21 ...). Each system device (SC) capable of transmission contains a counter or a clock (ZU) to assign a transmission time slot (ST) to the relevant system device capable of transmission and thus designate it for the transmission. At the start of its transmission of control signals (TS11, TS21 ...), the transmitting system device (SC) seizes the system device (EC) designated for the reception of the subscriber information (IS11) by transmitting the address of this designated system device (EC) in the transmission time slot (S2) and/or in a group of further control time slots and adjusts this designated system device (EC) by setting it, for example, to a different switching state. <IMAGE>
