A control circuit for a sanitary appliance is described by means of which the flow of cold and hot water can be optionally controlled. The cold water flow has priority in the sense that cold water will flow from the appliance without any particular intervention of the user. The sanitary appliance will only switch to hot water flow when a command transmitter is activated. So that the person who misunderstands how the command transmitter works and attempts to use it to operate the appliance is also enabled to use the appliance, the command transmitter is given a second function: during the closing of its contacts, it generates a short-time signal which simulates the presence of a sensor signal, that is to say of an automatically generated signal. The action of a drop-out delay circuit which extends both the genuine signals indicating the presence of a user within the range of sensitivity of the sensor and the simulated signals of the command transmitter by a certain delay time, makes it possible for the user to bring his hands within the range of outflow of the appliance and thus reliably within the range of sensitivity of the sensor before the appliance is switched off again. Hot water immediately flows with such a release of the water flow at the command transmitter. If the user steps away from the appliance and the hot water flow stops, the arrangement switches back to its normal rest state and can be triggered contactlessly in the usual manner. <IMAGE>
