PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a latch device that makes a door open only in one direction when seen from a passer-by, the door having a structure to open in directions both toward and away from the passer-by.SOLUTION: A latch device of the present invention includes: a first door knob 3a disposed and operated on a near-side surface of a door 1; a second door knob 3b disposed on a far-side surface of the door 1 and operated independently from the first door knob 3a; a first latch bolt 5a that recedes into the door 1, in linkage with an operation of the first door knob 3a; and a second latch bolt 5b that recedes into the door 1, in linkage with an operation of the second door knob 3b. The first latch bolt 5a has a tapered form when seen in a vertical direction, with an inclined surface on either the near-side or the far-side at a tip part. The second latch bolt 5b has the tapered form when seen in the vertical direction, with an inclined surface on the other of the near-side or the far-side at the tip part.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
