PURPOSE:To lengthen the life of a needle and speed up knitting, by pivoting a latch in a slender groove of the stem and forming a holding seat by pressing the latch at a place where a latch holding seat is to be formed. CONSTITUTION:A hook 1 is provided at the tip of a needle, and a slender groove 3 is formed on the stem 2 by machining. A latch 4 is pivoted in the slender groove 3 by a shaft 5 to allow free rotation. Then, the latch 4 is pressed against the part with which the latch 4 comes into contact, that is, the edge of the slender groove, and a latch holding seat 7 is formed. By this way, the latch 4 coincides accurately with the latch holding seat 7 and no local wear, breakage etc. due to opening and closing of the latch 4 takes place. Thus, the life of the latch needle can be lengthened. |
