<p>Novel dichlorocyclobutanones of the formula: (A) in which Z is hydrogen and Z1 is chlorine, or Z1 is hydrogen and Z is chlorine or a group of the formula wherein R1 and R2 each independently represents hydrogen, halogen, methyl, methoxy, trifluoromethyl or cyano, or R1 and R2 together represent methylenedioxy or a group -CH=CH-CH=CH- are disclosed, together with processes for their manufacture. The compounds (A) are useful as intermediates in the preparation of certain cyclopropanecarboxylic acid esters.</p> |
