PURPOSE:To efficiently recover Mo from maraging steel scraps, by dissolving the scraps in hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid to settle Mo as Mo oxide of lower order and by separating the settled product. CONSTITUTION:Maraging steel shavings are added to a hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid soln. having 1-20% concn. by more than an equivalent amt. to be consumed in the acid, and they are dissolved. When the reaction proceeds sufficiently, the pH of the soln. is increased to about 3-6, and Mo oxide of lower order (MoO2) is settled by hydrolysis. The settled product is separated by filtration or centrifugal separation. When the dissolution reaction does not proceed sufficiently, by adding an alkali such as NaOH, the pH is adjusted to 2-8 to form and settle the hydrolyzate of Mo. The remaining soln. contains little Mo, so the soln. can be used as a soln. for recovering Fe, Co and Ni by electrolysis as it is.
|
