PURPOSE:To surely prevent dislocation of a pinion when an engine is in a changed state, by providing a ball shaped stopper to the inside of the pinion jumping out to the front at rotation of a motor and engaging said stopper to a groove of a corresponding collar at jumping out of the pinion. CONSTITUTION:If a shaft 8a of a motor is rotated at cranking of an engine, a clutch 1 is moved in the left direction by a twisted helical spline 8b of the shaft 8a, and a pinion 2 is meshed to a ring gear 10 to start the engine. Here one end of a collar 6 is fitted into a ring shaped groove 12 of the pinion 2, and a ball 5 in the pinion 2 is engaged to the part of a groove 6a in the collar 6. Here even when the engine is in a changing state of misfiring and low speed operation or the like, the ball 5, being urged downward by a spring 4, continues engagement in the groove 6a to surely hold meshing of the pinion 2 to the ring gear 10. |
