PURPOSE:To enable the constitution of a multicolor recording apparatus receiving no influence on the arrangement of a recording element or a recording system, by accommodating an ink ribbon in such a manner that the running direction of the ink ribbon opposed to the recording element and the wind-up direction of the ink ribbon are made different to each other. CONSTITUTION:Ink ribbons 14B, 14R, 14G are extended at the leading ends of each protruded parts 9B, 9R, 9G of ink ribbon cassettes 13B, 13R, 13G and the moving directions thereof are made parallel with the moving directions F, R of a carriage 11 as shown by arrows F. At each time when a recording signals are applied to thermal heads 15B, 15R, 15G, the carriage 11 is moved incrementally over a minute distance toward the direction F while the ink ribbon 14 is moved toward the direction shown by the arrow (f) at a speed same to that of the carriage 11 to adjust the relative speed of the ink ribbon with respect to recording paper to zero. |
