PURPOSE:to improve the reaction and selectivity to aldehydes in the hydroformylation of olefins, by using a specific weakly-basic anion-exchange resin which is easily available and reusable and a Co catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Aldehydes or alcohols are obtained by reacting olefins with CO and H2 in the presence of a Co catalyst and a weakly-basic anion-exchange resin at 50-200 deg.C and at 50-1000 atm. A resin, preferably non-heterocyclic amine which is insoluble in both the raw material and reaction product, type (e.g. polyamine or tertiary amine type having a styrene - divinylbenzene copolymer skeleton), is used as the exchange resin in an amount less than an equivalent, preferably 0.1-0.5 equivalent, of the effective ion-exchange group per g atom of Co of the catalyst. |
