PURPOSE:To obtain limiter characteristics on the whole and to realize cost reduction by making the compressing characteristics of a compressing circuit and the expanding characteristics of an expanding circuit asymmetric. CONSTITUTION:The compressing circuit 10 is connected between an input terminal 11 and the input terminal 12 of a recording medium 2 and the expanding circuit 20 is interposed between the reproduction output terminal 21 of the recording medium 2 and an output terminal 22. Those compressing circuit 10 and expanding circuit 20 have variable gain amplifiers 13 and 23 respectively and the characteristics of circuits 14 and 24 for controlling their gains are made asymmetric with each other, obtaining limiter effect on the whole. Consequently, it is unnecessary to provide a variable gain amplifier dedicated to a limiter circuit. |
