PURPOSE:To make the tunnel erasure possible, by forming a main magnetic pole thin film on one side face of a core where the center part in one end part is notched and a nonmagnetic material is packed there and providing an erasing gap between two U-shaped cores on the side opposite to this thin film. CONSTITUTION:A notched part is provided in the center of one end part of a core 8 consisting of a magnetic material, and a nonmagnetic material 10 is packed there, and projecting parts 8' and 8'' are formed on both sides of the core 8. A soft magnetic thin film 3 is formed on one face of the core 8 including the nonmagnetic material part 10 to make a main magnetic pole of vertical magnetic recording. U-shaped cores 11 and 11' where coils 13 and 13' (which are not shown in figure) are butted on the opposite face of the core 8, and a gap material is inserted between end parts 8 and 8' to form erasing magnetic heads 12 and 12'. Thus, both end parts of a track where information is recorded vertically magnetically by the main magnetic pole 2 and an auxiliary magnetic pole, which is not shown in figure, are erased effectively by erasing magnetic heads 12 and 12', and a head suitable for high-density recording is constituted. |
