PURPOSE:To obtain advantageously the aimed compound in preparing a specific ester of a phenolic alcohol from a lower alkyl ester corresponding to the titled compound by the ester interchange reaction, by using a specific organotin compound as a catalyst. CONSTITUTION:A lower alkyl ester of acrylic or methacrylic acid is subjected to the ester interchange reaction with a phenolic alcohol corresponding to the aimed compound in the presence of a compound expressed by formula I or II(X1 and X2 are 1-8C alkyl; Y1 and Y2 are F, Cl, Br or I; Y3 is O or S) as a catalyst to give a compound, expressed by formula III, IV or V (R and R<1> is 4- 8C tert-alkyl; R<2>-R<4> are 1-12C alkyl, 1-12C cycloalkyl, etc.; R<2> and R<3> are further H, etc.; R<5> and R<6> are H, 1-4C alkyl, etc.; x is an integer 0-4; y is an integer 0-11; m is 0 or 1; n is 1, 2 or 3; R' is H or CH3), and capable of preventing the oxidative deterioration of a copolymer obtained from the copolymerization thereof with a diene. The above-mentioned catalyst has the low toxicity and high activity and selectivity without the fear of corroding apparatuses. |
