Various embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a method for controlling an activation area of a touch screen panel and an electronic device thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, an operating method of an electronic device comprises: an operation of setting some regions of a touch screen panel corresponding to a view window of a cover mounted on the electronic device as an effective touch region when the cover is closed; and an operation of enabling some regions of the touch screen panel corresponding to the set effective touch region when the cover mounted on the electronic device is closed.
