The detector includes three major decision circuits (B1-3) which each receive the output signals provided by detectors (A1-3) situated at the points (Pl - Pn) where radiation is to be monitored. Each of the detectors includes a first OR-gate (01) receiving inputs from the first detectors (A1), and second and third OR-gates (02 + 03) receiving inputs from the other detectors. A second logic gate requiring 2/3 inputs (M) responds to the OR gate outputs in order to control a relay (C1-C3). The three relays are subsequently interconnected so that they control a single output terminal which provides a signal indicating that an excess radiation level has been detected.
